Heel Fatigue, Impact and Pull-out Test for Your Shoes

Beauty and risk is always accompanying. Every year on the European and American government departments’ recall reports have high heels. Which kinds of high heels have safety concerns? It is divided into two aspects of chemical and physical. For chemical is mainly referred to the shoes materials, and physical is mainly referred to the design and quality aspects.


Chemical is the main reason why most of the high-heeled shoes have been recalled. Here we neglect it. Physical is the key to comfortable high heels . Then a pair of high heels which passed physical quality must be in accordance with which testing aspects?


1.Heel Fatigue Test

Due to the materials have different brittleness and plasticity. Generally test standards refer to BS EN ISO 19956, SATRA TM21 & BS 5131 4.9 (Footwear - Test Methods for heels—Fatigue Resistance).


2. Heel Impact Test

Occasionally there is an unexpected impact in high heels. Generally test standards refer to BS EN ISO 19953, SATRA TM20 & BS 5131 4.8 (Footwear – Test Methods for heels - Resistance to Lateral Impact).


3.Heel and sole pull out strength test

Refer to BS EN 12785, SATRA TM113 (Measurement of the strength of attachment of heels to footwear and the backpart rigidity of such footwear). Use the tensile strength test machine to pull the heels and soles at a certain speed to record the maximum strength of the heel from the sole and the permanent deformability of the shoe.
