Pilling Rating Change
  • 2023-08-07 17:38:02

With the implementation of GB/T 4802.4-2020, ISO 12945-1: 2020, ISO 12945-2: 2020, ISO 12945-3: 2020, ISO 12945-4: 2020 and other method standards, the results of eye ratings of the above standards also have changed.

① The old version of the standard requires the issue of the pilling grade, for example, pilling grade 3;

② The new version of the standard adds the rating of the felting phenomenon, and requires the issuance of the fuzzing grade, pilling grade and felting grade, such as fuzzing grade 3-4, pilling grade 3, and felting grade 3.

1 What is felting?

The definition of felting is given in the GB/T 4802.4-2020 standard: the entanglement of fibers protruding from the surface of the pile fabric forms a disordered arrangement, resulting in visible surface changes. It can be seen from the definition that felting is generally for pile fabrics.

2 Which fabrics need to be rated for felting

1.The most direct way is to grasp the keywords in the sample description. For example, there are words such as corduroy and polar fleece in the sample description. These fabrics clearly indicate that they are pile fabrics and need to be felted and rated, as shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2 .

2.The surface of the fabric obviously belongs to fleece fabric, etc., as shown in Figure 3.

3.Generally, carded wool fabrics, etc., as shown in Figure 4.

3 Grade Descriptions for Felting Ratings

The GB/T 4802.4-2020 standard gives the grade description of felting rating, as shown in Table 1.

The standard states: due to the subjectivity of the rating, at least two people should rate the samples, but the rating is mainly done by the eyes of the personnel, which is highly subjective and has different understandings of the degrees of slight, moderate, obvious and serious. , sometimes different personnel ratings, the level difference reaches 1 level or greater.
