Understanding of fabric impermeability

In the process of wearing clothes, it is inevitable that they will come into contact with water, which leads to the requirement of waterproof and water-resistant clothing.At present, there are mainly two kinds of waterproof fabrics: first, laminating composite waterproof fabric, which USES special adhesive and ordinary fabric to compound together through laminating process to form waterproof laminated fabric, laminating can be two layers of fabric or multi-layer fabric;The second is the coating waterproof fabric, that is, the fabric through direct or transfer coating processing, so that the surface of the fabric coating agent closed, so as to obtain waterproof.

Hydrostatic testing is a common method to evaluate the water resistance of fabrics.When hydrostatic tester was used to carry out impermeability test on waterproof fabrics, it was found that some fabrics did not appear the phenomenon of test termination as described in the standard. The standard GB/ t4744-1997 "hydrostatic test for determination of impermeability of textile fabrics" stipulated a hydrostatic test method for testing the impermeability of fabrics.Mainly suitable for tight fabrics, such as canvas, tarpaulin, tent cloth and rainproof clothing cloth.The method of testing is that under standard atmosphere, one side of the sample is subjected to a continuous rise of water pressure until there are three places where the pressure is recorded.The principle of this standard test is the hydrostatic pressure on the fabric to indicate the resistance to water passing through the fabric, which can be applied from the front or back of the sample.
