Mass per unit area
The most common method is to use a circular sampler to circle five circular samples with an area of 100cm2 or square samples with a side length of 10cm and weigh them on a balance.
Finally, it is converted to mass per unit area (g/m2).
The sample is dried to a constant weight in a drying oven at 105℃, and then weighed to obtain the drying quality. The common weight per unit area can be calculated by combining with the common moisture regain rate of the fiber.
1.Mass per unit length
The sides of the fabric shall be cut vertically and parallel, and the whole fabric of at least 0.5m length shall be taken and converted to (g/m) after weighing.
G /m= G /m2× Width (m)
2.Individual quality
For complete finished products, individual quality can be weighed according to customer requirements, such as towels, blankets, sweaters, etc.
3.Unit conversion
In addition to grams per square metre (g/m2), ounces oz/ yD2 are commonly used for jeans
Ounces per yard = grams in square meters x 1/33.91
For example: 10 oz/yd2 = 339.1 g/m2
4.M/M is often used in silk trade
Momi = grams in square meters x 1/4.3056
For example: 12m/m (mm)=51.6672g/m2
