Flame retardant material classification

Flame retardant materials are materials that can restrain or delay combustion but are not easy to burn by themselves. They are widely used in the fields of clothing, petroleum, chemical industry, metallurgy, shipbuilding, fire control and national defense. Flame retardant materials are mainly organic and inorganic, halogen and non-halogen. Organics are some flame retardants represented by bromine, nitrogen, red phosphorus and compounds, while inorganic flame retardants are mainly antimony trioxide, magnesium hydroxide, aluminum hydroxide and silicon series.

The products of flame retardant materials can be divided into 7 categories, such as flame retardant fabric, flame retardant chemical fiber, flame retardant plastics, flame retardant rubber, fire retardant paint, flame retardant wood materials and flame retardant paper, and inorganic non-fire filling materials.

Three types of macromolecular flame retardant materials:

Before containing halogen flame retardant materials is the most widely used, but containing halogen flame retardant material has an obvious shortcomings, it is containing halogen flame retardant materials after combustion will produce large amounts of toxic gases, these gases will not only cause certain harm to people's physical, but also affects the environment, so now there are more environmentally friendly flame retardant materials to replace the containing halogen flame retardant materials. Especially in the 21st century, the emergence of various macromolecular flame retardant materials has made our life better.

Polymer flame retardant materials are generally divided into three categories, namely polymer flame retardant materials, hydrated metal oxide flame retardant materials and phosphor-silicon flame retardant materials.

Flame-retardant polymer materials:

The so-called polymer flame retardant material refers to a new kind of compound flame retardant material which is made by special technology and dispersed in the polymer. This new flame retardant material has the advantages of low density and high mechanical strength. The emergence of new flame retardant materials not only greatly enhances the flame retardancy, but also makes the use of flame retardant materials more widely. For example, it can be used as heat resistant materials, which makes the new flame retardant materials more competitive in the market.

Hydrated metal oxide flame retardant material:

In fact, this kind of flame retardant material is a kind of filler, which is now used widely, such as magnesium hydroxide or aluminum hydroxide. The first is that it is very cheap to use, and the other is that this kind of flame retardant material is very environmentally friendly and does not produce toxic gases. The main principle is to use the metal magnesium oxide after being heated release water, can absorb heat, thus achieve the goal of flame retardant.

Flame retardant materials added to phosphorus silicon:

There are mainly two types of flame retardant materials, one is organosilicon flame retardant and the other is inorganic silicon flame retardant.

In recent years, there have been many bus fires. The flame retardant standard of bus interior decoration materials is too low, which is an important cause of human and property loss. The low standard of flame retardant materials exposed in the bus fire case is just the tip of the iceberg. Loose regulation, inadequate enforcement of regulations and market chaos are the key problems to be solved. These problems, if not handled properly, will not only hinder the healthy development of the flame-retardant materials industry, but also generate a large number of fire hazards.

Flame test equipment is a kind of equipment for testing flame retardant materials. The main flame retardant materials are flame retardant fabric, flame retardant chemical fiber, flame retardant plastic, flame retardant rubber, flame retardant coating, flame retardant wood and flame retardant paper. And inorganic fireproof filling materials. UTS is a professional supplier of flame test equipment and can be contacted if necessary.
