Fabric tear tester can be used to test the tear strength of fabric and evaluate the tear resistance of fabric and its products.

Tear strength: tear strength is the force required to begin or continue tearing the fabric under specified conditions.

Tearing force: the average force required to continue the previous tear in the fabric.

Tear resistance: tear resistance is one of the important properties of fabric. The tear resistance of the fabric indicates its tear resistance.

Three tear tests:

1. The tongue

2. The trapezoidal

3. elmendorf

Elmendorf tear test:

Sample preparation:

1. First, we take the sample (100 75) mm2.

2. Place the template on the sample and cut according to the template, as shown in figure 2.

3. A slit is generated at the midpoint of the sample with a range of 20mm.

4. In the test, elmendorf continuously tore the fabric from the end of the slit to a distance of 43mm from the relative edge.

5. The pendulum principle is used here.

Working procedure:

1. Fabric tear tester comprises a fan-shaped pendulum with a movable sample clip and another clip fixed to the frame.

2. When the pendulum is in the rising initial position, the sample is fixed between the two clamps.

3. Tear begins through a cut in the sample between fixtures.

4. Then release the pendulum. When the moving fixture moves away from the fixed fixture, the sample is torn.

5. The pointer is attached to the pendulum, and the pointer directly reads the tearing force.
