What is the reason why summer clothes are easy to fade in case of sweat stains?

The composition of human sweat is complex. The main component is salt, which varies from person to person. Sweat can be acidic or alkaline.

On the one hand, clothes with unqualified color fastness to perspiration seriously affect the appearance and wear; on the other hand, heavy metal ions in dye molecules on clothes are easily transferred from textiles to human skin through sweat, absorbed by the human body, and endanger human health.

Therefore, it is necessary to test the color fastness to perspiration of fabrics.

The national mandatory standard GB18401-2010 "National Basic Safety Technical Specifications for Textile Products" evaluates the product category of color fastness to (acid, alkali) perspiration as follows:

Class A products (textile products for infants) ≥ grade 3-4;

Class B products (products in direct contact with the skin) ≥ level 3;

Category C products (products that do not directly contact the skin) ≥ level 3

(The color fastness to perspiration is divided into 1~5 grades, the larger the value, the better the color fastness).

Influencing factors of fabric color fastness to perspiration

1.When there are too many dyes floating on the surface of the fabric that are not stably combined with the fibers, the color fastness to perspiration is tested. Under external effects such as pressure, temperature, acid and alkali, the dyes are easy to transfer. If the affinity is good, it is easy to stain, which makes the color fastness series of the fabric measured in the experiment lower.

2. Some auxiliaries added during dyeing and post-treatment are not removed after dyeing, and the residual auxiliaries will cause thermal migration of polyester dyed by disperse dyes during high-temperature setting (during high-temperature setting, the residual auxiliaries Dissolve the disperse dyes that have penetrated into the fiber and migrate to the surface of the fiber), affecting the color fastness to perspiration of the fabric.

3. The retarding agent added in the dyeing process will not only play a leveling effect, but also weaken the binding force between the dye and the fiber, making the test result of the color fastness to perspiration unsatisfactory.

The correct washing method to remove sweat stains

1. Do not wash clothes in hot water. Too hot water will cause the protein in sweat stains to coagulate on the clothes, forming stains that are difficult to remove.

2. Sweat stains on clothes will not only form stains but also produce sweaty odor. Therefore, clothes stained with sweat should be cleaned in time.

3. Spray white vinegar on the sweat stains or yellowed areas on the clothes, and then wash them to effectively remove the sweat stains on the clothes.

4. Soak sweat-stained clothes in 3%~5% salt water for 1-2 hours, and then wash with normal washing procedures to effectively remove sweat stains.
