Leather tear strength tester is applicable to the tear strength test of all kinds of leather and synthetic leather materials.

Test steps:

1. The sample shall be stored in the laboratory environment for more than 8 hours.

2. Cut 3 or more samples with cutter at least 150mm above the edge of the material in the longitudinal and zonal direction of the sample.

3. The two ends of the sample are respectively clamped on the upper and lower clamps of the tension machine.

The part of the sample exposed to clamping device and the part exposed to clamping device should be consistent;

To keep the sample in a vertical position, do not deviate to one side;

Set the speed of the tension machine at 200mm/min.

4. Start the test key of the tensile force machine and start the test. When the tensile force machine completely tears the sample, record the maximum tension value of the tensile force machine.

5. Test each sample at least 3 times and take the average value as the final result.

Result determination:

If all of the three values are qualified, the average value of the three values is used as the final result.

If one of the three values is not qualified, two more samples should be cut for reinspection. If there is any more unqualified in the reinspection, it will be judged to be unqualified. The average value of the first and second unqualified values will be taken as the final result. If no nonconformance is found in the retest, the final result shall be the average value of all values.

If two or more of the three values are unqualified, it is judged as unqualified, and the average value of unqualified values is taken as the final result.

Matters needing attention:

1. If there are large differences (over 30%) in the results of several tests of the sample, the sample shall be re-cut.

Therefore, the abrasion resistance and tear strength of leather are very important performance indexes, and are the basic test items to characterize the leather performance.
