Spray type water repellent tester for AATCC22 spray test experiment

Spray type water repellent tester can be used to evaluate the water repellent property of fabric surface.The instrument is an all-metal framework. The sample to be tested is 150mm below the 45-degree spray by the standard nozzle. After the test, the surface of the sample is compared and rated with the standard chart card.It is the main instrument for testing the water-repellent property of fabric.


I. purpose and scope:

1. The standard applies to any textile fabric, whether or not it has been treated for water repellency.This standard can be used to determine the water wettability of fabrics. It is not suitable for textiles with water-repellent properties, especially plain woven fabrics.

2. The simplicity and portability of the instrument and the simplicity of the test procedure make this standard particularly suitable for factory product control.Since this standard does not measure the permeability of water droplets into fabrics, it is not recommended to use this standard to evaluate the permeability of waterproof fabrics against rain.


3. The test results of this standard are related to the initial water resistance and wettability of the finishing of fibers, yarns and fabrics, not to the fabric structure.


Ii. Testing principle

Under specified conditions, water is sprayed on a taut specimen to form a wetting pattern on the surface, the size of which is related to the water-repellency of the fabric.The evaluation results are determined by comparing it with a standard pattern.

Iii. Instruments and raw materials:

Spray type water-repellent tester;A beaker.Deionized water.

Iv. Test samples:

Three test samples of 180*180mm (7*7inch) are required. Before the test, the test samples should be dampened for at least 4 hours in a standard environment with a temperature of 21±1 and a relative humidity of 65±2%.

V. test procedures:

1. Place the sample on a metal ring with a diameter of 152mm, face up, to ensure the surface is smooth and wrinkle-free.

2. Place the metal ring with samples on the rack of the tester, and pay attention to the position of the samples to ensure that the center of the sample ring is exactly aligned with the center of the spray pattern ring.For some twill, bead, or similar stripe structures, when placing the sample ring on the table, the direction of the stripe should be diagonal to the direction of the flow.

3. Pour 250ml deionized water at a temperature of 27±1 into the funnel of the tester and spray it on the sample within 25-30 seconds.When pouring deionized water, the beaker should not touch the funnel. If the funnel moves, the pattern and shape of spray will be changed.The spray time must be between 25 and 30 seconds, otherwise the nozzle must be checked to see if the hole is enlarged or blocked.

4. Hold one side of the sample ring, face down the sample, and quickly hit the other side of a hard object. Then rotate the sample 180° horizontally.

5. Repeat the above steps to test the remaining two samples.
