Working principle of martindale abrasion tester:

Under certain pressure, the circular fabric sample and the standard abrasive rub against each other according to the movement track of the Lissajous curve, leading to the sample damage. The wear resistance of the fabric is represented by the wear times of the damaged sample.

The martindale apparatus is used for testing pilling of fabrics under slight pressure.The circular specimen is rubbed against the abrasive (i.e. the standard fabric) by the plane motion of the trajectory forming the pattern of Lissajous under the specified load.A test fixture containing a sample or abrasive rotates freely about an axis perpendicular to the horizontal plane.Whether to install the sample or abrasive in the sample fixture depends on the test method adopted.Its trajectory forms a complete plane friction movement of Lissajous's figure, including 16 times of friction, namely, the two outer driving wheels of martindale wear tester rotate 16 times, and the inner driving wheels rotate 15 times.The standard stipulated Lissajous figure is the figure formed by the movement of change.From a circle to a narrowed ellipse until it becomes a straight line, from which the line asymptotically widens to a wider ellipse until the circle repeats the motion diagonally.However, many of the instruments produced by domestic small companies that do not have the production qualification and processing technology do not have the li saru track specified by the standards at all, which leads to the uncertainty of the test results.

Standard motion trajectory of Lissajous's figure:

Remove the material from the grinding table, cover the surface of each grinding table with a plain white paper with diameter (100 5) mm and minimum unit area mass of 100g/m2, and fix it on the grinding table to ensure the surface is very smooth.

Martindale abrasion tester is suitable for testing the pilling degree of GB/T4802.2, ASTM D4970, iso12945-2 and other fabrics.Principle: the circular sample and the same material fabric under the given pressure, friction with Lissajous figure trajectory, after reaching the specified revolution, assess the sample pilling grade.It is also suitable for testing the abrasion resistance of GB/T13775, ASTM D4966, ISO12947 and other fabrics.Principle: the circular fabric specimen, under certain pressure, rubs against the standard abrasive according to the movement track of Lissajous curve, leading to sample damage, and the wear resistance of the fabric is represented by the wear times of the damaged sample.

The general

The martindale wear tester consists of a base with a grinding table and a transmission device.The transmission device consists of two outer wheels and one inner wheel, and the mechanism makes the movement track of the guide plate of the sample fixture form the figure of Lissajous.

Note: the martindale apparatus produces an almost perfect Lissajous movement.

The guide plate of the sample fixture moves in a plane driven by the driving device. Every point of the guide plate depicts the same figure of Lissajous.

The guide plate of the sample fixture is equipped with bearing seat and low friction bearing, which drives the pin shaft of the sample fixture to move.The bottom end of each sample fixture pin shaft is inserted into its corresponding sample fixture socket, and the loading block can be placed on the top of the pin shaft.The sample jig includes a socket, a block and a compression nut.The tester should be equipped with preset counting function to record The Times of friction.
